But despite the fantastic weekend, a few flops appeared to make things interesting...
1. I woke up on Saturday morning and was using the bathroom when all of a sudden a mouse runs out next to me and into the laundry room. I screamed. loud. I keep my apartment so stinking clean, but it was looking for a roommate to share a warm home and thought I would be a good candidate. So... I blocked the doors to the laundry area with Harry Potter books (I knew those would come in handy!) and towels. Called our apartment manager and then called my dad and cried to him on the phone. This is completely hilarious to me now that I think back on it and the fact that he was laughing while I was crying tells me that it didn't take him as long to find the funniness of the situation!! I ended up buying an expensive trap that catches and kills the mouse in a cage so I didn't have to see it. I built up some courage after it was caught and got some pliers out of my tool box (knew that would come in handy some day too!) to pick up the trap and take it down to the big garbage bin. As well as being completely jumpy- I'm still disgusted, and I dreamt about it last night! Ah- the joys of being a single girl living on my own. A man is coming sometime today to block any area that it may have gotten in, and I still have a trap set just in case. Brought back some memories of my Hollister home in college where we paid next to nothing for 7 girls living in a house (some in large closets!) We decided to poison our house mouse and one night while we were all in the living room a doped up mouse came stumbling in while we were screaming. The death scene was that of a very poorly executed shakespeare play. The things you remember...
2. This week we're having a cookie exchange with our lifegroup and then I'm going to a friends hot chocolate and cookies party (I surround myself with creative people!) on Tuesday therefore baking was on the agenda. I tend to like to try new things when it comes to the kitchen which is something I would not suggest when it's for other people. I will never learn. So I found a new recipe that ended up turning out terrible, and I had to scrap the whole thing and start over. What a waste! Even worse? The recipe was for 6 dozen cookies! Luckily some dear high school girls came over, and we succeeded together! Did I say I love baking? So why doesn't it love me back!!
